Today, in Adorable News, I bring you: The Hedgehog Cafe.

Now, we all know, thanks to the internet, that something this odd (though adorable) could only be the brainchild of Japan! Thanks, Japan. We owe you one for this. In fact, we may just refrain from making any remarks about the next truly bizarre thing you come up with. (Maybe.)

Anyways, the Harry Cafe can be found in the Roppongi District of Tokyo.

The name “Harry” stems from a wordplay on the Japanese word for hedgehog.

For $9-11, you can go pet and play with hedgehogs (presumably while drinking tea? It is a cafe after all… Then again, maybe not.)

Mizuki Murata, who works at the cafe, told Reuters, “We wanted to show people the charm of hedgehogs, which give the impression of being hard to handle. We wanted to get rid of that image by letting people touch them.”

She added, “The cutest thing about hedgehogs is getting them to finally open up and show you their face.”

And what cute faces!
cute hedgehog
P.S. Did you know that a group of hedgehogs is called an array or a prickle? A prickle of hedgehogs!

So what do you think, readers? Would you like to pet a hedgehog, or are they too prickly for you?

This ad made me giggle, and since I ran out of time for a real blog post, I thought I’d share it:

Regardless of what message is being pushed (even if it’s just “buy this!”, I do love me a genuinely entertaining ad.

How about you readers, are there some ads you don’t mind so much, or even enjoy? Are some Telus animals among them? /guilty

A little humor to start your long weekend, compliments of Bored Panda: This Seattle Gas Station Has The Funniest Signs Ever

ban pre-shredded cheese, make america grate again

if attached by a mob of clowns, go for the juggler

all those who believe in psychokinesis, raise my hand

What if there were no hypothetical questions?

The past, the present, and the future walk into a bar. It was tense.

Ever stop to think and forget to start again

I child proofed my house but the kids still get in

When it's raining cats and dogs, don't step in a poodle.

I checked into the hokey pokey clinic and I turned myself around

I'm still hot, it just comes in flashes

The second mouse gets the cheese

I went to the air and space museum but there was nothing there

Hold the door open for a clown. It's a nice jester.

Happy Easter!

Feline Foot Fetishes and Stolen Underwear

This is my cat.

Loki the cat

Loki the cat.

She’s…a little strange. I mean, most animals, like people, have their quirks. My cat has a foot fetish.

This is mild:

Loki loves her shoes

Loki loves her shoes.

This is typical:

OH YEAH FEET

OH YEAH FEET

In fact, she rushes to do this pretty much the moment someone walks in the door. She will sniff feet before the shoes are off, then stuff her head into the first foot-related opening. And after she’s fully examined the shoes, she’s after everyone’s feet. Sniff, sniff, gotta know where ya’ll have been!

Especially men’s feet. I have no idea why. Needless to say, she can be a bit of a conversation-starter. And a source of endless familial heckling.

On the other hand, I suppose it’s not so bad. She could be like this cat, and have a socks and underwear fetish:

To quote kitty's owners: "Now it's getting silly. This is Brigit's haul from the last two months."

To quote kitty’s owners: “Now it’s getting silly. This is Brigit’s haul from the last two months.”

Cheezburger reports:
“Brigit, a cat in New Zealand, sneaks out every night and brings back socks and underwear that she’s stolen from the neighborhood. Her humans have tried to find the owners of the stolen goods, but can’t seem to figure out where Brigit is stealing from. Or why she seems to really love a particular brand of men’s underwear.”

So really, I don’t have it so bad.

What about you, dear readers? Do your pets have any bizarre quirks? Please share!

How Would You Like To Have A Penguin For A Best Friend?

‘Cause this guy has one. Check it out:

This penguin swims thousands of miles every year to visit the Brazilian man who saved his life. Joao Pereira de Souza found this Magellanic penguin crippled with oil-slicked feathers and close to death near his home. Joao cleaned him up and nursed him back to health. Now the penguin, dubbed JinJing, has adopted him.

“I love the penguin like it’s my own child and I believe the penguin loves me,” de Souza told Globo TV. “No one else is allowed to touch him. He pecks them if they do. He lays on my lap, lets me give him showers, allows me to feed him sardines and to pick him up.”

Although it’s not common, penguins do sometimes end up in Brazil after getting sent a little off course by currents. But I’m pretty sure this is the only one trying to replace dogs as man’s best friend.

Okay, I lied. Well, kinda. I mean, physics are responsible for what happens to these marshmallows, but we don’t really talk about it. No, we just listen to a Russian guy chatter as he makes these marshmallows “inflate.”

Check it out:

And now you know what happens when you put marshmallows in a vacuum. I felt like my life was much improved for the knowledge, how about you?

This weekend, my fiance and I attempted to do our wedding invitations. Turns out, printers and software are actually elaborate torture devices invented by demons infiltrating our society. After spending HOURS AND HOURS on them, we gave up, and we’re finishing them tonight. As such, you don’t get a real blog tonight. Instead, you get to meet Gimo, the cat with the biggest eyes ever.

great big kitty eyes

So squee, so adorable!

Little kitten loaf

It’s funny, in some of the shots, he looks a little concerned, but when he closes his eyes, he’s definitely a happy kitty!

These were my favorites, but there are more adorable pics of this kitty at the source article linked above!

I was perusing the internet when I saw this:

This has to be one of the best and most Australian things I have ever read… #Frankston #Seagulls @pedestriandaily pic.twitter.com/I3sjOIPPvV

.

Great story, but is it true? It would seem so: “Seagulls cause pandemonium on Victorian train”. There are a few other articles about it too, but who knows? At any rate, great story. (Buzzfeed added some colorful commentary to their article on the story.)
